I am an outside of the box thinker and believe that at its core learning is inherently fun. We just need to ignite that enthusiasm within the students we teach. I have 19 years of experience as a special education teacher, assistant principal, doctoral student, and mother. Because of my experience as a teacher and school administrator, I have a deep understanding of both curricular expectations as well as instructional best practices. My research at Teachers College has focused partially on how to combine standards-based assessment with student-led instruction and project-based learning. While all of that experience has set me up with a great professional and academic foundation, I really developed my passion for elementary math while teaching and supporting my then-preschooler during COVID school closures. I created my own curriculum and was able to see how powerful these strategies can be with my own child. I now look forward to sharing them with yours!
